On February 5, 2024, ACRI, representing the organization "Standing Together," sent legal correspondence to the Technion administration demanding permission for the organization to host Jewish-Arab dialogue circles on campus. They also called for the cancellation of the university’s blanket ban on public activities, which permits only those organized by the institution or the student union.
Attorneys Gadeer Nicola and Tal Hassin of ACRI outlined a history of rejections and harassment faced by the organization in its efforts to facilitate dialogue between Jewish and Arab students. They argued that the broad prohibition on public activities—without considering the nature or purpose of the events—violates constitutional rights to freedom of expression and association. Additionally, they contended that this policy inadvertently discriminates against minority communities, particularly Arab students, who are underrepresented in the Technion Student Union.
In response, Technion University stated that it would "reconsider requests for permits for public activities in accordance with its procedures, taking into account the current situation."
