ACRI, along with Bimkom, sent an urgent letter to Major General Yehuda Fox of GOC Central Command regarding restriction of movement imposed on West Bank roads since the beginning of the war.
We are hereby urgently contacting you on behalf of The Association for Civil Rights in Israel and Bimkom - Planners for Human Rights,[1] with respect to the profusion of restrictions on movement imposed on West Bank roads since the beginning of the war. Some of these restrictions effectively put communities and villages under siege, preventing entry and exit, food and water shipments, access to medical care and medications, regular supply of food and water for livestock, and access to school and work. These blockages grievously violate the fundamental rights of Palestinian residents and put their lives and safety in immediate danger, both due to the lack of water and food and due to their abandonment to settler violence with no escape routes. This conduct runs counter to the military’s obligations, including in times of war, under international law, as well as the military’s own procedures.
